I come up with topics from everyday life. I have a weird view of the world. Sometimes it's pretty cool what God shows me, other times it's pretty dumb what I am seeing myself. You decide.

Updates Available
I have a fairly new TV, it is connected to the internet through my Wireless Wi-Fi. Yesterday I turned it on and was greeted by a notice that the TV needed to have it's software updated and if I press "Enter" on the remote it would happen automatically and would take no more then 15 minutes. It actually only took about 5 minutes. A few weeks ago I turned on my cell phone and it told me a update was available and asked me if I wanted to install it. Of course I did, I always want the latest and greatest software running my devices. Even my "Surround Sound" system has offered to update it's software for me, which of course, I took it up on, because, hey it's free and it is NEW. I have never noticed anything different about these updates, but who knows?
We all want the latest, the best, the newest. We have 4G now, why would you buy a 3G phone, 4G is so fast you won't notice the difference. I recently bought a I Phone, it was the latest the 4-S, I could have gotten the just plain ole 4 at 100$ less, but it wasn't the latest and greatest, that "S" meant allot. A friend of mine at church has a new car with a pretty cool "Entertainment System",
it is pretty cool. He told me that the system in his CAR updated fairly often. He said he would be listening to a song on his system and a female voice would say: "Update needed, should I continue?" He said it didn't take long, and it was new, so like me he said: "Yes, continue with the update."
Updates we see them all the time in this "Gadget" age we live in. Our computers are constantly telling us there are updates available for this program or that one, sometimes they are offered free, and other times they want money, but it's alright, just enter your credit/debit card number and continue updating, everything will be fine. Windows operating system has a setting that you can select and the updates just happen, you don't even have to approve them, they just happen.
Did you know that God has updates ready for you? There is strength, wisdom, joy, peace, shelter, hope, love, assurance, you name it God wants to update your system (your heart and mind and body) with "Chris 12.3", the latest update for our particular operating system, (you see, each and every operating system is designed with only us in mind, so the "updates" must be personalized as well, how does God keep up with all this? Easy, He is God.), BUT these updates will not happen automatically, they will not leave you a message that there is a update available and you can accept it by pressing here. You and I have to ask Him for them. We have to read His word, talk to Him, be in His presence , to realize we need them.
Psalm 94:19
"When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer."
See, this is the "Hope and Cheer" update 10.9. There are millions and millions of these throughout bible. But we have to ask for them, God will not give them to us without us wanting them.
I love to play games on my I-Phone, but one of the things that bothers me is all the updates. I have a soccer game that is fun and time consuming, lately they wanted me to purchase a update, they called it a "holiday update". I did not buy it, but a week or so later they offered it free, so I downloaded it. (I guess no one wanted to pay 99 cents for it, so they just decided to give it away in the spirit of Christmas.) All it did was make it look like it was snowing on the field, nothing else changed, same game, same options. I don't think this would have been worth almost a buck!!
God NEVER charges for His updates, they are all offered free of charge, BUT we have to ask for them. He wants us to have them for OUR benefit. He wants us to grow in His love, wisdom, and glory.
With God our "system" will never freeze up, or get boggled down . The internet will work every time. Sometimes I get a upgrade and nothing works right. I have removed the update because my system worked better before. This will not happen with God, either. He will make sure the updates are what we need right at that perfect time. You see, new releases are coming out all the time, BUT the are not for everyone. God tailors each for each of us, at different times through our walk with Him. Joe may have updated recently to "Joe 34.8" but I am only running "Chris 08.0" It doesn't matter, we are all walking through this at our own pace. HE know where each and everyone of us are, and what is next, and best for us.
Aren't you glad there is not an "Automatically Apply Updates" setting? We would get new stuff we weren't ready for. We would get discouraged and freeze up and possibly blow out our Mother board. God knows each and everyone of us, where we are in HIM and what we can and cannot take. We'll eventually get to "Chris 189.7" but there is no hurry. The journey is the lesson, the strength comes from the trip.
There is some software out there that is not designed for all of us. Some need it and others don't. God knows who, when, and who not to apply these. Trust Him, He will give us the updates we need, at the right time in our lives. He knows us better then we know ourselves. Thank you Lord, for this last update, it came when I needed it most.
