He was absolutely sure that God would be able to do
what he had promised.
"Absolutely Sure" What does Absolute mean? Webster says it means :" positive, unquestionable
There it is, the words: "unquestionable" "positive". So this verse could read: "He was positive, without question he knew that God would be able to do what He had promised".
OK, have you ever doubted God? God tells you He has you in His plan, that He is going to take care of you, that all you have to do is trust. And it seems to take forever, "Why" you moan, "Why is it taking so long?" "God, don't you see what I am going through?" Doesn't sound like your ..."absolutely (positive, unquestionably) believing that God will do what He said He would do.
Please, don't take me wrong, I KNOW what it is to doubt God. I have done it so many times, and I am sorry to say, I will more then likely do it again in this life. BUT He has never let me down even though I doubted Him, never not once. Doubting God is pretty normal, as humans we doubt just about anything we can't see happening with our own eyes. I really doubted the Dallas Cowboys would beat the NY Giants this last Sunday night and make the playoffs, and I was not disappointed. See, if we don't think something is going to happen, then how can we be let down? This is a defense weapon we use, especially if we have been let down many time before. But what we don't understand is God is GOD. He is unable to disappoint us, it is NOT how He works. We may have had friends, family, spouses, children, parents, lovers, employers, everyone close to us let us down, disappoint us, turn their backs on us, stab us in the back, push us under the bus, BUT God is NOT like that, HE cannot do these things because He is God. When He says He loves us, He means it with all His heart.
Jeremiah 29:11
New Living Translation (NLT)
" For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope" Let me be sure I read that right: "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans to destroy you, cause much disaster, to lie to you and tell you that it will all work out, so you won't have a future and I will drain all hope from you." Is that what this verse says? Of course not, then why do we doubt? How many times has God let us down? Go ahead count, I'll wait...........................Did you come up with any? I didn't think so. ZERO, that is how many times God has let us down. ZERO> So why do we doubt Him?
In sports when a team is on a "Hot Streak" and are say 12-0 with 3 games left, the odds of them going undefeated go up with every win. There has not been a perfect season in the NFL since the 1972 Miami Dolphins. (I believe it was '72). But God is not a sports team, He is GOD, He does not make mistakes, He does what He says He will do, always has, always will. To call God perfect is really wrong, He is not perfect, He is GOD, He cannot be NOT perfect, He cannot be wrong, He cannot change His mind, He cannot not love us, He cannot get even, He cannot not see everything. When you see what is going to happen, it changes your perspective on everything. God sees the future, this is sometimes why He does certain things that we, don't yet, understand.

My Mom used to say: "I know, that I know, that I know, that I know, that I know, that I am a child of God" Something like that. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves of who is our God, exactly what He has done in the past for us, friends and family, in the bible days, down through history...............before we can "know that we know that we know".
Do you know who Paul was talking about in the above verse? "He was absolutely sure that God would be able to do what He had promised". Abraham, yes Abraham from the Old Testament. Abraham who is known to have more faith and trust in God Jehovah, then I do in my little finger nail. There it is, the key to Abraham's faith, the reason he could serve the Lord God without hesitation, without doubt, because ..."he was absolutely sure that God would be able to do what he had promised".
There is a saying that "there are very few absolutes in this world". And I absolutely believe that. BUT there is at least one: "That God made everything, that He loves me unconditionally, and that He would do anything to see me choose to love Him back" These are absolutely absolutes.
So do we doubt God when it all seems lost, but He is telling us that He has a plan? Yes, we do, because we see with our EYES, and He sees with His being. "God said it, I believe it, so be it" remember that saying? I say, cut out the "I believe it" part, cause that matters not, "It is SO", regardless of if I believe it or not. But if we really believe it, then why do we doubt? We are so tied to our human eyes, if we can't see it, it doesn't exist. We can't see angels, but I KNOW they exist, we cannot see the wind, but we know it exist. So,, We cannot see the prayers being answered so they don't exist? Yes they exist, God has heard our prayers, and He is taking care of business His way. I cannot see gravity, but without it life on Earth would sure be harder.
So I leave you with a question: Are you and I "Absolutely sure that God will do what He says He will do?" I'll answer for myself, many times no, I am not. Now you answer. Let us search our hearts and souls, and for me, I want to trust Him more. I want to trust Him completely. So that I can say like Abraham: "I am absolutely sure that God will be able to do what He has promised".
