When is the "Proper Season"?

Galatians 6:9

But let us not grow discouraged in acting rightly; for at
the proper season we shall reap that harvest, if we do not
grow lax in our endeavors

Have you ever "grown lax in your endeavors"? Have you ever thought something like this: "Man, look at all the money that guy makes, he lives in sin, he talks about Christians as evil people, he uses words that disrespect our God, and look how he is rewarded, all the money he could lever want............."? We see people all the time, who are not very good people, and still seem to have everything they want. And then we get jealous, we wonder why we struggle so much. "God, I don't lie, cheat on my taxes or my wife, I treat everyone respectful, and you KNOW how much I love you, and the church. Why? "Why do I struggle so much and Joe Blowhard over there doesn't do anything and look at his house, his car, his wife, wow." As the above verse, Galatians 6:9 tells us "...let us not grow discouraged in acting rightly...." Why do you think Paul wrote this to the church, there? Because people there were more then likely, getting discouraged, they were seeing no reason to "Act Rightly".

Have you ever thought about cheating on your taxes? You filled out the form, and your only getting back $12.32. TWELVE dollars, that's it? Hey if I changed this number here, and that one there just by a few hundred, then I would get back let's see..........$1200.98. That's more like it. What do you do? If your like me, you think about it, realize that you would likely be audited, and keep the 1040 form correct. But what is the REAL reason you don't do this? Because you know it is wrong, it is cheating. It's a MORAL thing. It seems these days, morals are going the way of the typewriter, out the window. But, we who serve the soon coming
King Jesus Christ, know right from wrong, and choose right.

Look at the second part of the verse above,: ".....at the proper season we shall reap that harvest, if we do not grow lax in our endeavors." There it is, do you see it? That word most every believer despises, but accepts, it is not said here, but implied, the word: Patience. "....At the proper season we shall reap......" "Lord, when is the "proper season""? I have not had a job in 3 years, when is that season? " My baby is sick, and his health is getting worse, we have prayed and prayed, and all you keep telling us is be patient, when is the proper season?" Sometimes you feel like "giving up". You see no answer from above, you just think, "It's not worth it, I cannot do it" And then some guy writes a dumb blog on the subject of Galatians 6:9, and you just happen to find yourself reading it, and the Lord talks to you, and you see that He is right. The proper season IS coming, I say again the PROPER SEASON IS coming. Why would God tell us this, if it were not true? Does God lie? Is He wrong? Lying and being wrong are NOT in God's nature. He could not do either of these even if He wanted. You see God IS Truth, He IS RIGHT. He IS JUSTICE.

Yes, I believe we all have started to be "lax in our endeavors" at different times in our lives. But the time is NOT now. These are the "last days" Jesus Christ is coming back for us very SOON> There are so many out there that need to know HIM and make it to be with Him, forever.

Why did Paul write this? Because he knew discouragement. Look at Paul's life, he had spent many years in jail for proclaiming Jesus. He had been shipwrecked, (sorry, not "Chipwrecked") many times. He had been beaten, tortured, and ridiculed for his belief in Jesus Christ. Do you think he got discouraged at times? Of course he did, and in every situation God, delivered him. His faith grew, his determination grew, his boldness grew. So, when Paul says: "..let us not grow discouraged in acting rightly..." he knew what he was talking about. Even after all he went through, he knew the "harvest" was ripe, and the proper season was at hand.

I love Paul's writings, especially when he talks about sports, as in "running the race", "hitting the mark". He saw this life as a contest, a contest that had a finish line. A contest that had a finish line, and a reward waiting beyond it. He knew that whatever "state" he found himself, he was content.........." Why? because this life was just temporary, just a test, a contest, until
we got home to be with our Father.

When I was in boot camp, we had to fold our clothes just perfectly. There could be no stray strings anywhere. We used finger nail clippers to cut them off. The creases had to be perfect, folded exactly like we were told, and shown. Boots had to be polished, but not "Overly polished". Bunks made up exactly as we were shown. Upon leaving boot camp, I asked my CC (Company Commander) why all the fuss over our clothes. He told me something I have never forgotten: "Calvin, if the U.S. Navy is going to trust you with 100 million dollar equipment when you get to the fleet, they must first see if you can follow instructions exactly on something a little cheaper, like uniforms, sheets, and boots." You see, boot camp was a test, to see if we could make it in the fleet. It was training ground for the future. Going through boot camp sometimes I got discouraged, wanting to know if I could make it. Looking back, it wasn't that bad, it was just the unknown that was the scariest. We were afraid of what was coming tomorrow, we had no idea.

This world is a test, a training ground, if you will. It can be very discouraging, it can make us want to quit, to stop caring. We have no idea what is coming tomorrow. But our instructor does. God knows all, tomorrow is easy for Him to see. He knows if you will make it to heaven to be with Him, or not, and He still cares for you. This has always blown my mind. God knows everything, then that means He knows if I will be in the rapture. If He knows I won't,then why does He "waste His time" on me? Why doesn't He just spend more time on someone who makes it? Because this is not His nature, God loves EVERYONE, even those that hate Him.

It is human to grow lax in our endeavors, it is even normal. BUT the harvest is coming, there is much work to be done. The finish line is visible, just around that last corner, over that last hill.

Do not grow discouraged in acting rightly, for at the proper season we shall reap that harvest, if we do not grow lax in our endeavors. Let's leave LAX in LA. We are almost home, the time for discouragement is gone. Heads up, look alive, turn two, pull yourselves together, for surely He is coming.
